‘Your Best Friend’s Home’ an Award Winning and Welcomed Addition to the New Year Shanghai Neighbourhood
It’s ‘Love at first sight’ – as Asia’s first Andaz hotel settles into success in Shanghai
2012 is set to be a year of neighbourly New Year resolutions as Andaz Shanghai looks forward to further success and community involvement since opening its doors in Shanghai in October.
The hotel - the first Andaz property in Asia Pacific and the sixth hotel to open under the new Andaz brand operated by Hyatt Hotels & Resorts - was recently recognised by Esquire China Magazine as the ‘Best New Hotel in China 2011’ and also garnered the ‘Hotel of the Year – 2011 Design Destination’ awarded by International Channel Shanghai.
The Andaz Shanghai aims to be more than just a friendly and welcoming hotel, but also an active and vibrant member of the local Xintiandi and wider Shanghai community. As part of its aim to celebrate and reflect China’s rich and diverse artistic and cultural traditions, Andaz Shanghai in collaboration with Osage Art Consultancy is currently showcasing the work of 21 emerging Chinese artists, all members of the EDGE Creative Collective.
Those passionate about Chinese culture know “Chengyu” –four character Chinese idioms–are a priceless and colourful source of Chinese myths, folktales, and historical facts that teach lessons about morality, life and nature.
Andaz Shanghai currently hosting an exhibition titled “Chengyu Visualized” in which members of the Creative Collective have visually interpreted their favourite “chengyu” through typography design and artwork. “Chengyu Visualized” captures the essence of traditional Chinese idioms in a modern way, while showcasing a variety of individual artistic styles through various mediums.
And Romance will be in the air in February - a month of love at Andaz - with a special LOVE package, which includes a special one-night stay in an Andaz King room, with views of the Xintiandi entertainment district or Huai Hai Road shopping neighbourhood.
