Saturday Brunch

February 21, 2012

Saturday brunch is on the menu at the casual Brasserie de L’ile in Arbuthnot Road, Central from 11am – 4pm.

Omelettes and scrambled egg on toast with a choice of bacon, smoked salmon, cheese and mushroom are priced from HK$68. A classic ‘Egg Benedict’ on English muffin with Hollandaise sauce and the same choice of sides is priced from HK$88.

Savoury crêpe pancakes with ratatouille, mushroom, cheese Bechamel and spinach cream are priced from HK$98.

French specialties, served with salad or fries, extend to quiche, ‘Croque Monsieur’ ham and cheese toasty and a brie cheese sandwich.

Brasserie de L’ile specialises in the rich culinary heritage of northern France, headlined by the region’s signature specialty ‘moules frites’ – pots of steaming mussels and unlimited bowls of French fries, traditionally shared by families and groups of friends.

The rich produce of France includes foie gras, farmhouse cheeses, duck confit, lamb, beef and chicken – along with such classic regional desserts as tarte tatin, crème brûlée, profiteroles with hot chocolate sauce and home-style bread pudding with jam and fruit.

Chef at Brasserie de L’ile is Bruno Gautier, a veteran chef from Brittany; he was once General Manager and Head Chef for the launch of ‘Brunch Club’ in Central.

The name Brasserie de L’ile is a play on words, reminiscent not only of the French northern industrial metropolis of Lille, which is especially famous for moules frites, but also the restaurant’s location on Hong Kong Island.
