The Herb-A-Licious Langham Place

June 12, 2012

Dynamic lifestyle hotel, Langham Place, Mongkok, Hong Kong has taken the global ‘eco-hospitality’ trend to heart with its continuing efforts in embracing green initiatives. The epic launch of its Organic Herb Garden at the hotel’s eco-cool outdoor deck The Backyard in December last year, is the perfect blend of high end luxury with sustainability, making an unbeatable green splash in the city’s eco scene.

Growing over 40 types of herbs in The Backyard, including bell peppers, chili peppers, basil, mint, lemon grass, aloe vera, galangal and more, the Organic Herb Garden has not only created an idyllically relaxing vibe, but also offered an eco-stimulating experience for the green-minded guest. Nestled under the stars with sweet-scented mango trees and soothing water features, guests can graze over to The Backyard and pluck the aromatic herbs straight from the Garden for their dishes and cocktails of choice, leaving the hotel’s culinary masters and creative resident mixologist to take care of the rest!

Langham Place hotel’s green girl, Jessica Yau, Environmental Management System Manager, regularly consults a professional gardener to tend to the unique green space that uses 100% organic pesticides.  “Supporting sustainability in every possible way is the DNA for the Langham Place brand. The gardener and I have carefully picked herbs that grow best in the Hong Kong climate bringing our guests the unique experience of reaping super fresh ingredients straight to their dining table”.

Swing by The Backyard on level L of the hotel to treat yourself to deliciously fragrant, gourmet pizzas and nibbles, complete with the deck mixologist’s signature, organic cocktails. And of course savour the pleasure of cherry picking the organic herbs to spice up your deck experience with a planet-friendly twist, guaranteed to raise a few eyebrows!
