Michael Johnson will lead the team at the Australian airport hotel
Pan Pacific Hotels Group has announced the appointment of Michael Johnson as General Manager of PARKROYAL Melbourne Airport. Michael will be overseeing operations at the 276-room property directly connected to the Melbourne Tullamarine Airport.
Michael has over 30 years in tourism and hospitality in Australia and New Zealand, 13 of which were spent heading hotels in Christchurch, Queenstown, Sydney and Brisbane.
In his most recent appointment, Michael was the General Manager of North Sydney Harbourview Hotel. Prior to that, he helmed the Amora Hotel Jamison Sydney for four years and was responsible for developing awareness for the Amora brand in Australia and New Zealand. Concurrently, he supported the operations of other Amora hotels and lent his expertise to owners in acquisition opportunities for new Amora properties in the region.
Under Michael’s leadership, Amora Hotel Jamison Sydney was named ‘Superior Hotel of the Year’ in the 2009 Australian Hotels Association’s (NSW) Awards for Excellence.
Michael has intimate knowledge of the PARKROYAL brand, having spent over twenty years with Southern Pacific Hotels Corporation (SPHC) which owned the PARKROYAL brand previously. While at SPHC, Michael held both operations and development roles before heading several PARKROYAL hotels in Australia.

Leveraging his knowledge and passion for hospitality, Michael added another facet to his career when he helmed Totally Tourism, a tourism company offering a varied portfolio of sightseeing and adventure activities across New Zealand’s South Island.
Active in the industry, Michael also held the position of Chairman of the Australia Hotels Association New South Wales Accommodation Division in 2010.

PARKROYAL Melbourne Airport was recently named ‘Best Airport Hotel Australia/Pacific’ at the 2012 World Airport Awards.
Pan Pacific Hotels Group currently owns and manages two other PARKROYAL hotels in Australia namely PARKROYAL Darling Harbour, Sydney and PARKROYAL Parramatta.
Outside Australia, the PARKROYAL brand will also debut in China later this year with the opening of PARKROYAL Serviced Suites Green City, Shanghai.
In Singapore, PARKROYAL on Pickering, the flagship PARKROYAL with a hotel- in-a-garden concept in Singapore will open in December this year.
