Drink For A Cause with Common Abode for Movember

With Movember just around the corner, Common Abode will be participating in the global movement with two special cocktails that will be available across the group’s three venues — Candour, Club Rangoon, and Hjem — with 5% of the drink sales going towards Movember. With the month-long promotion to raise funds for an important cause, the group will also host a Movember closing party in partnership with Selvedge Barbers on 29 November from 6pm to 10pm, where guests can enjoy crafted cocktails, win a range of raffle prizes, and trim their facial hair on-site.

Beginning from 1 November and until 29 November, guests looking to drink for a cause can opt for one of the two Maker’s Mark concoctions for the month. The Frothy ‘Tash (HK$118) features bourbon, raspberry liqueur, fresh lemon juice, and Angostura bitters, garnished with blueberries – an easy-to-sip sour with sweet, fruity notes. Those looking for something stronger can try the Maple Fashioned (HK$118) – a twist on the Old Fashioned using bourbon, maple syrup, Angostura bitters and orange bitters, finished with an orange peel and cinnamon stick garnish, making for an aromatic drink that will warm you right up for the autumnal season.

To conclude the month of raising awareness for both men’s physical and mental health, the group will host a Movember closing party at their hip-hop lounge Candour on Tuesday, 29 November. For one evening only, Candour will welcome Oscar and Enzo – two barbers from one of Hong Kong’s favorite salons Selvedge Barbers – who will be present throughout the night from 6pm to 10pm. For a minimum donation of $200, gentlemen participating by growing out their staches and beards can get a trim on the night from the city’s best barbers, inclusive of a drink of choice to sip at their leisure.

In its honor, co-founder of the group Nelson Htoo shares, “We are proud to be taking part in this initiative to raise awareness for men’s health and to join hands with wider industry friends like Selvedge Barbers to unite for a cause that is close to our hearts. We hope that through this event, we can foster a safe space for all to participate in this global movement, encouraging important conversations around both mental and physical health to take place, stigma-free.”

During the entire period of 1 to 29 November, all are invited to partake in a raffle draw with a range of prizes to be won, including Movember merchandise, gifts from Common Abode’s own venues, a grand prize of the full range of Selvedge’s own premium hair, face and fragrance products, and more. Raffle tickets, each priced at HK$50, can be purchased at any of the venues and via this link.

Welcoming all to raise a glass to Movember, Common Abode has made it easy for everyone to contribute by opting for the special drinks available at all of their venues, while the closing party at Candour looks to bring the community together to celebrate what Movember advocates for. Table bookings for the event can be made here.
