THE FIRST CHYPRE
Christine Nagel, Creative Director of Hermès Perfumes, has masterfully crafted Hermès’ inaugural chypre fragrance. With unwavering dedication, she sculpted a sensual composition that delicately intertwines the fragile beauty of butterfly lily with the surprising allure of miracle berry. The fragrance’s warm oakwood trail and the depth of patchouli create an emotional resonance that lingers. This timeless blend of contrasting notes melds seamlessly with the skin, revealing a distinct signature and leaving an indelible impression.
A SENSUAL NAME
Barénia, a natural and iconic Hermès leather, embodies heritage and sensuality. With its fine, supple texture, Barénia leather gently conforms to the skin, moving fluidly and embracing boldness. It naturally appeals to those with a free-spirited and adventurous nature. Barénia serves as a metaphor for the Hermès chypre, which is absorbed by the skin and becomes an eternal part of one’s essence. It symbolizes the perfect union of body and soul, the mark of an unstoppable woman.
THE ESSENCE OF THE COLLIER DE CHIEN
Inspired by the original dog collars crafted by Hermès Sellier, the Collier de chien bracelet has become an enduring symbol of the house. Combining leather and metal, this elegant yet rebellious accessory was embraced by women in the Roaring Twenties as a statement of independence. The essence of the Collier de chien, with its distinctive lines, colors, and materials, continues to inspire a wide range of Hermès creations, from bags to accessories. For the first time, it now also inspires a fragrance bottle.
A STIMULATING OBJECT
Longtime Hermès collaborator Philippe Mouquet drew from the iconic Collier de chien bracelet to design a fragrance bottle of crystal-clear curves and precious metal accents. Its elliptical shape, adorned with a metal plate and four studded domes, mirrors the bracelet’s design. These heritage elements harmonize to create a powerful, symbolic object that embodies the essence of a signature fragrance.
A MAGNETIC LINE
The fragrance is presented in a sophisticated box featuring refined graphics. A metallic ellipse, reminiscent of the bottle’s shape, intertwines with the Hermès H. At the center, the name Barénia stands out in bold, fiery-red lettering. This balance of elements captures the fragrance’s history in just a few elegant lines. The Barénia line extends the experience with a perfumed body cream in a luxurious glass jar, allowing the chypre scent to envelop the body. A scented soap, engraved with the iconic H, completes the sensory journey.
“The Hermès woman is driven by curiosity. Guided by her instincts, her sidesteps are never missteps.”
— Christine Nagel, Creative Director of Hermès Perfumes
