Flat Iron Steak Pop-Up Opens in SoHo
The Humble Eatery Delivers Premium Steaks at Excellent Value for a Limited-Time Only
From the masterminds behind pioneering meat and seafood purveyors Steak King and Macelle, SoHo’s popular Italian macelleria, comes a new value-driven, casual steak pop-up that focuses on the underappreciated oyster blade cut of beef. Taking over the Macelle space in SoHo from now until the end of the year, the pop-up Flat Iron Steak restaurant will provide a unique, vibrant and casual environment to indulge in high-quality steak without the hefty price tag.
The unique flat iron cut, also known as the oyster blade cut, is expertly prepared by using seam butchery to remove a thin piece of sinew to deliver a tender and juicy prime steak. Flat Iron Steak sources its grain-fed meat from small, humane farms in Australia’s Margaret River and Scott Angus. Each piece of beef is Halal certified and, best of all, highly marbled and full-flavoured.
Flat Iron Steak offers incredible value at only HK$150 (+10% service) for lunch for choice of a magnificent 7oz Black Angus Flat Iron Steak with an aromatic compound butter for distinctive flavour. Feeling flash? Upgrade to a M9 Wagyu Flat Iron for only an additional HK$35. A tender 7oz Black Angus Hanger Steak is also available with a tangy chimichurri sauce and can be swapped for an M9 Wagyu Hanger Steak for only HK$35 extra. Both meaty entrees can be enjoyed alongside Fries or Salad.
Flat Iron Steak will serve dinner from HK$198 (+10% service). Guests can savour a 12oz Black Angus Flat Iron Steak or a 12oz Black Angus Hanger Steak with a side of Fries or Salad. Wagyu lovers can choose to elevate their cut to an M9 Wagyu Flat Iron Steak for an additional HK$75. Signature-sharing steaks will also be available to relish, including a 1.2kg Wagyu Tomahawk Steak (HK$888) and a 1kg Wagyu Porterhouse Steak (HK$888).
Elevated and comforting side dishes will also be available, including rich and meaty Beef Tallow Hand-Cut Fries (HK$45), crispy Skinny Fries (HK$35), Chef Jo’s ultra decadent Lobster Mac N Cheese (HK$65), an impressive Half Grilled Boston Lobster with Garlic Butter (HK$128) sumptuous Bone Marrow Mash (HK$45), and more.
Diners can dress their steak in a house-made sauce (all HK$45), like Red Wine Jus, Creamy Green Peppercorn, a rich Café De Paris Butter and earthy Mushroom Sauce.
The restaurant will be led by veteran Chef Jo Campbell, with 15 years of experience under his belt. The talented chef will utilise a wood-fired josper oven to bring out the exceptional and distinct taste of the shoulder blade steaks.
Dessert also features on the excellent value-driven pop-up menu, with a choice of creamy New York Cheesecake, luscious House-Made Tiramisu, decadent Salted Caramel Cheesecake with chocolate sauce or a nostalgic Frozen Custard with mixed berries.
The drinks menu will put forward a modest selection of wines curated by Flat Iron’s wine partner, Luca Luise – wines will be available by the glass at an astonishing price of HK$45.
The Flat Iron Steak Pop-Up will also be making an appearance at Steak King’s Tseung Kwan O location. The pop-up at both locations will be available from October 16 till the end of the year.
