FRANCIS west Launches New Brunch Menu
[Hong Kong, 3 July 2023] Just in time for long, lazy afternoons spent with friends and loved ones, FRANCIS west has expanded beyond dinner to offer brunch on weekends and public holidays. The sister restaurant to Wan Chai’s FRANCIS is inspired by the rich culinary heritage of North Africa’s Maghreb region with a blend of Mediterranean and African flavours, intermingled with ancient Arab cooking traditions. All dishes are designed for sharing and best enjoyed with wine, which FRANCIS west has sourced almost exclusively from the coastal regions of the Mediterranean.
For a sharing style experience guests can enjoy The Big Brunch starting with a selection of mezze alongside a main dish for an additional HK$150. The range of mezze includes Stone Baked Frena (a Moroccan flatbread), Hummus, Pickles, Matbucha (a popular Moroccan mezze of slow cooked tomatoes, bell peppers and aromatic garlic), Avocado & Feta Salad with tomato, za’atar and the signature Cigars filled with spiced beef. The healthy and modern Middle Eastern feast continues with a choice of seven delectable mains, all made for sharing, including Seafood Couscous (HK$240) with prawn, clam, calamari, preserved lemon and tomato; the traditional Israeli breakfast Shakshuka (HK$140) with two baked eggs, tomato and harissa; ‘Mughrabi’ Chicken Parm (HK$180) with eggplant; and Steak & Eggs (HK$220) with a twist featuring lamb rump, fried eggs and harissa potato. Brunch can end on a sweet note with a choice of Knafeh (HK$100), a Middle Eastern dessert made with spun pastry, layered with mozzarella, soaked in syrup and topped with pistachio; or Kumquat (HK$100) with saffron, orange custard and almond.
In keeping with FRANCIS’s dedication to high-quality and invigorating wine, the specially curated list of small producer, low intervention wines at Soho has been sourced exclusively from the coastal regions of the Mediterranean. The fresh and playful list features labels from some of the most historic producers alongside young innovative winemakers. Refreshing cocktails are also available on the elevated beverage menu, with highlights such as the Coffee Martini (HK$95) featuring Cardamom vodka, coffee and salted pistachio, adding a new twist to the classic libation. Another must-try this season is the housemade Vermouth Spritz (HK$95), aged in an amphora with bitter, citrus and herb botanicals. This wine-based cocktail is mixed with sparkling water and kumquat, making it the ultimate summer refresher for a relaxing weekend brunch from the first bite and to the last sip.
About FRANCIS
Inspired by Melbourne’s contemporary dining scene and the ingredients and flavours of the Middle East, FRANCIS is a labour of love by Co-Founders James Ward, Asher Goldstein and Simone Sammuri. From a shared appreciation of a humble carrot dish at 121BC, they created the quintessential neighbourhood venue they’d always dreamt of owning. Intended as a place to drop in and while away an entire evening, FRANCIS offers quality food, invigorating wine lists, and high-level service at prices that won’t break the bank. Five years after the launch of FRANCIS in Wan Chai, FRANCIS west opened in Soho bringing the fragrant spices and smoky flavours of the Maghreb to diners.
