Hong Kong Cuisine 1983 Presents Suzhou-Style Mooncakes Western Surprise and Special Festive Menu for Mid-Autumn Festival

This Mid-Autumn Festival, Hong Kong Cuisine 1983 presents handcrafted Suzhou-style mooncakes that honour traditional techniques while introducing a delightful Western surprise. In addition to the exquisite mooncakes, Chef Silas has included a chocolate orange-flavoured financier in each box, showcasing his renowned East meets West culinary philosophy. To further celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, the Cantonese restaurant is also offering a special set menu, available only from 8th September to 17th September, featuring a variety of enticing dishes.

Continuing the legacy of Suzhou-style mooncakes which are less commonly found in Hong Kong, Chef Silas and his team meticulously craft each mooncake with a golden flaky crust, thin base, and a delicate combination of sweet and savoury fillings. The intricate process of creating the perfect flaky crust and uniformly wrapping the fillings ensures that each mooncake is a testament to traditional Chinese pastry artistry.

This year’s mooncake flavours include Red Bean Paste with Nuts, Red Bean Paste with Yolk, White Lotus Seed Paste with Yolk, Yunnan Ham with Mixed Nuts, Premium Mixed Nuts, and Purple Sweet Potato Paste with Yolk. In addition to these traditional flavours, each mooncake box also includes a Chocolate Orange-flavoured Financier, a little Western surprise that embodies Chef Silas’s innovative culinary approach.

“Suzhou mooncakes are delicious as they are and I didn’t want to make any changes to the integrity of these traditional pastries so this year, I’ve added a chocolate orange financier as a cheeky unexpected surprise,” Chef Silas explains.

The elegant packaging, inspired by the beauty and essence of the seasons throughout the year, features gradient colours that add a visual appeal, making these mooncakes a perfect gift for loved ones during the Mid-Autumn Festival.

The mooncake gift box is now available for pre-order, to be picked up between early to mid-September. Each box is priced at HK$488 and includes six flavours of mooncakes and one chocolate orange financier. Enjoy a 10% discount on all orders placed before 31st July, with no minimum purchase required.
