ISSEY MIYAKE Parfums | The New Les Eaux D’Issey & Pour Homme
Over 30 years ago, Monsieur Issey Miyake gave Jacques Cavallier carte blanche to encapsulate ‘the aroma of water on a woman’s skin’ in a bottle.
With L’Eau d’Issey, the maison imagined one of the first aquatic fragrances in women’s perfumery.
In 2025, Issey Miyake presents two new Eaux d’Issey with a more intense fragrance: L’Eau d’Issey Eau de Parfum Intense and L’Eau d’Issey pour Homme Eau de Parfum.
Inspired by the ocean, these olfactory stories are an invitation to explore its immensity, its power and its mysteries.
All you need do is follow the silvery light that sparkles on the surface of the water. Set off into the horizon towards a new odyss
Issey Miyake Parfums imagined these two new fragrances as a link between two worlds: that of scents, and that of underwater exploration.
To fuel their inspiration, the two perfumers, Amandine Clerc-Marie and Sophie Labbé, went underwater with Alexis Rosenfeld. This diver and photographer is the force behind 1Ocean, a project set up with UNESCO to showcase the beauty of the ocean and raise awareness of the need to protect it.
Exploring, understanding and marveling are the three founding principles of the 1 Ocean project.
‘In view of our environmental concerns and the dangers that threaten the deep sea, we owe it to ourselves to share the extent of the riches that are hidden there.
Our ambition is both to understand this complex and little-known universe better, and to raise awareness of its beauty.Enthralling people and making them love the ocean will naturally guide us towards preserving it,’ explains Alexis Rosenfeld.
‘For this reason, I wanted to take perfumers by the hand and guide them into my world, beneath the surface of the water, to let them see what I see and thus feed their inspiration.’
by Amandine Clerc-Marie

For Amandine Clerc-Marie, the ocean is a source of boundless creativity. ‘The perpetual movement of the waves is hypnotic.
The feeling of weightlessness is like a balm. It’s almost like being reborn. Generally speaking, my relationship with water is vital,’ the perfumer readily confides.
The accord offered by Posidonia, or Neptune grass, is the starting point for this fragrance.
This underwater plant forms vast meadows that can be found at depths of up to 40 metres.
‘This soft aquatic meadow is almost magical, with its undulations and play of light and shade.
It’s a veritable refuge for animals.’ So, to create this original accord, Amandine Clerc-Marie was inspired by the warm, ‘planty’ nature of underwater grass, with aquatic, herbaceous and floral notes.
Then, with ylang-ylang essence (100% natural, responsibly sourced and certified in the Comoros)
and damascena rose absolute, it gains in depth. Before being warmed by the sensuality of infused vanilla (100% natural origin).
AN AQUATIC WOODY FRAGRANCE
by Sophie Labbé

And with good reason: Sophie Labbé was inspired by the hidden depths of the ocean, unseen on its surface and completely unsuspected. Alexis Rosenfeld has revealed all this secret life.
‘Its cold and warm contrasts. But also its different textures and colours,’ adds the perfumer.
Sophie Labbé has chosen to work with notes that are both explosive and intense. At the top, a beautiful electric essence of Sichuan pepper (100% natural and responsibly sourced) sets the tone.
Then, the aquatic accord is awakened by the essence of lemon. In the base notes, balsam fir absolute and cedarwood add a woody touch with great depth and intensity, while remaining very elegant.
The cedar wood used is 100% natural and comes from a responsible, certified source in the United States. It is overcycled and comes from the furniture indus
