RedBall Hong Kong launched today at Central Pier 10

RedBall Hong Kong, a public art project by artist Kurt Perschke, launched in Hong Kong today at Central Pier 10. The public are invited to join the fun and become part of the artwork performance, which encourages people to view the city with a new perspective. Hosted as part of the BODW in the city partner programmes, RedBall Hong Kong will move through the city to a different location each day from today to 15 December, and is free of charge.

Over its 10-day performance, RedBall Hong Kong bounces to a new location each day, wedging itself into culturally significant architecture from 11am to 6pm. Art enthusiasts and pedestrians alike are invited to join in on the performance at its 10 locations across the city, including:

RedBall Hong Kong is thrilled to have the support of the city’s favourite brands who have curated a diverse range of themed activations to spark creativity throughout Hong Kong. From Artist Talks to guided meditations, be sure to join in on the RedBall fun as art and imagination sweeps over the city.

Attend an Artist Talk with Kurt Perschke at HKMoA on 7 December and Asia Society on 11 December to learn about the RedBall Project’s journey to Hong Kong and the relationship between architecture, community, and public art, with pre-registration strongly advised to secure a seat. Join local artist Humchuk on December 12 at Ovolo Central for the unveiling of his RedBall-inspired artwork at Veda Café & Bar. From 6pm to 8pm, get to chance to meet Kurt Perschke, the artist behind RedBall Project alongside Humchuk.

Well-loved eateries, restaurants, and cafés jump in on the actions with themed menu items and limited-time offerings:

  • Visit Salisterra at The Upper House to indulge in a RedBall themed Afternoon Tea Set and specially crafted cocktail until 31 December

Participants can unwind with a Sound Bath and Guided Meditationwith IKIGAI sponsored by Friends of HKMoA, available to the public for walk-ins, and participate in a guided meditation session led by GOOD yoga x The Upper House: RedBall Sunrise by May Nogoy & Alex Nude on Sky Terrace 428 from 7am, or join the 9am hike from The Upper House to The Peak with SHELTER Athletics x The Upper House: RedBall Hike.

Immerse in local designers and artists RedBall crossovers

In the spirit of public art engagement, local artists and designers respond to and collaborate with RedBall Hong Kong. Participants can visit artist Humchuk who will be situated at WestK’s Art Park on 8 December to interact with pedestrians and patrons through live drawing sessions from 12noon to 3pm. Kiesly Tsang, a local contemporary artist, will create a Christmas-themed site-specific installation at Hong Kong Arts Centre in response to RedBall Hong Kong, bringing holiday cheer and creativity to this cultural landmark. Participants can engage with RedBall Hong Kong across the globe through a specially created Instagram AR filter by local digital artists INNSVX, which can be accessed through RedBall Project’s Instagram account, @redballproject.

Visit The Uncommon from now until 31 December to see Perschke’s 9 original artworks created for RedBall Hong Kong on display in a solo exhibition, which are available for sale. At Young Soy Gallery, two of Kurt Perschke’s RedBall Hong Kong original works will be available as limited edition prints as part of the gallery’s December group exhibition, available to purchase exclusively at Young Soy Gallery.
