The Murray, Hong Kong, is thrilled to welcome Mac Gyver, the Indonesian chef-owner of restaurant AKAR in Jakarta—where Indonesian food is reinterpreted into beautifully crafted dishes that are new, exciting, yet so familiar—something epicureans will absolutely fall for. The Tai Pan will host Chef Mac from 15 – 17 November 2023 where he will showcase his culinary skills and signature dishes to the local gourmets.
“Akar” in Indonesian stands for “roots”. The menu is rooted in Indonesia boldness, showcasing Indonesia cuisine in a contemporary and progressive approach. Inspired by the upbringing experience with some of the biggest names in the dining scene such as Locavore in Bali and August in Jakarta, Chef Mac will offer unrivalled creativity and present the deliciously intriguing dishes with seasonal ingredients to the plates of diners at The Tai Pan.
The lunch and dinner menus feature a series of AKAR’s signature dishes include Oyster with Torched Ginger Granita, Maranggi Beef Tartar, Vodka Battered Scallops in Dewata Style Curry and 36-hour Smoked Wagyu Short Ribs with pickles & Coconut Rice, and end with a sweet finale Kaya & Coffee, Kintamani Coffee Sorbet with Coconut Custard and Millefeuille.
Available from 15 – 17 November 2023, the four-course lunch menu is priced at HKD 680 per person. Dinner features a six-course menu which is priced at HKD 1280 per person. For an additional HKD 328 per person, guests can enjoy the wine pairing as well as two special cocktails – Popinjays Dayak, a bourbon based cocktail and Murray Bandrek, an arrack based cocktail to elevate the dining experience. All prices are subject to a 10% service charge.
