Whey Celebrates its 3 Years of Culinary Excellence in May

Unveiling a Spectacular Series of Events: Collaborating with Dough Beings to Present an Exclusive Collection of Singapore-inspired Pastries

Kicking off its 3rd anniversary celebrations in May, One-MICHELIN-starred Whey is delighted to announce its limited-time collaboration with Dough Beings, a famed local bakery founded by two Singaporean sisters. This exciting partnership features a total of five sweet and savoury pastries infused with Singaporean flavours.

Sharing the same vision of celebrating the Singapore heritage and flavours, chef Barry Quek from Whey and the co-founders of Dough Beings team up to create something truly dear to their hearts. Best for sharing, the box of five pastries includes the scrumptious Laksa Lobster Croissant featuring lobster with Whey’s signature laksa mayo, Bak Kut Teh Pulled Pork Bomboloni seasoned with the restaurant’s signature bak kut teh sauce reduction, Pandan Coffee Hazelnut Twice Baked Croissant and Strawberry Ginger flower Vanilla Bomboloni for those with a sweet tooth, and finally Buah Keluak Dulce de Leche Choux crafted using black nut, an ingredient that is typically used in savoury dishes but now explored in a sweet dessert, with shaved candlenuts in a contemporary choux pastry.

Chef Barry Quek artfully blends his global culinary experiences with his Singaporean heritage to curate a one-of-a-kind menu exclusive to Whey. With a commitment to using seasonal ingredients and a passion for creating unique combinations of flavours, chef Barry offers innovative European cuisine with an Asian twist that delights diners’ palates.

“I’m excited to team up with Dough Beings as the first celebration of Whey’s 3rd anniversary in May. It’s our first time collaborating with a bakery, and all three of us wanted to create something that pays homage to our Singaporean roots. Drawing inspiration from iconic flavours and ingredients such as Laksa, Bak Kut Teh and Buah Keluak, we infused these distinct Singaporean elements into our pastries, resulting in a truly unique and flavourful experience,” chef Barry from Whey said.

Dough Beings is dedicated to honing their craft in breads and pastries with a mission to create extraordinary renditions of doughs. With French pâtisserie training and craftsmanship, and a love of discovering new tastes, the sisters offer creative and experimental flavour pairings every month that excite the palate. The core of their values is crafting a delectable and memorable tasting experience that brings people together through sharing and savouring their culinary creations.

“This is our first time collaborating with a restaurant to create a pastry box set together, making doughs apart from our classic Bomboloni and Panettone. We’re very honoured and thrilled to work with Chef Barry, who shares the same vision and passion for creating innovative menus and flavours, intertwining our worlds of culinary and pastry,” co-founders of Dough Beings added.

Priced at HK$458 per box, these limited-time delicacies can be pre-ordered online in limited quantities daily starting from 13 May for pickup or delivery on Fridays and Saturdays between 17 May and 1 June. Customers may choose to pick up the order at Dough Beings’ kitchen in Wong Chuk Hang (from 2pm to 7pm) or at Whey (from 3pm to 5:30pm).
